How to export POP3 email to IMAP email on Outlook

Here are steps show how to export a POP3 email to IMAP email.

  1. Stop keeping message online.
    *This setting is not critical if you plan on doing all of these steps in one sitting. Will only affect new mails coming in*
    Go to account setting in Outlook -> Change -> More Setting -> Advanced -> Uncheck "Leave a copy of messages on the server”.

  2. Export Email Signature.

    Copy the signature of existing POP email that you want to export to a word document.

     

  3. Exporting emails from POP account.

    Open the export wizard by click File -> Open & Export -> Import/Export -> Export to a file -> Choose Outlook data file(.pst) -> Choose you email account, check "Include subfolders" box. -> Next and choose where to save your .pst backup file. 

     

  4. Adding new IMAP email account.

    If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2010. 

    • Start Outlook.
    • On the File menu, click Info and click Account Settings.
    • Select Account Settings from the list.
    • On the E-mail tab, click New and Select Email Account, and then click Next
    • Click to select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box, and then click Next.
    • Click Internet E-Mail, and then click Next.
    • In the Server Information section, select IMAP for Account Type.
    • In the Your Name box, enter your name exactly as you want it to appear to recipients.
    • In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail address.
    • In the Username box, type your account name being your full email address.
    • In the Password box, type your password.
    • In the Incoming mail server box, type mail.securecloudmail.us
    • In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type the same as your incoming mail server as listed above.
    • Click More Settings on the bottom right above Cancel.
    • Click the General tab and change the Mail account name to have IMAP at the start e.g. IMAP. Click the Outgoing Server tab and tick “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and select using the radio button “Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
    • Click the Advanced tab set the outgoing server port to be 465.
    • Also under the Advanced tab ensure that the incoming server port is 993.
    • Click Ok after you have completed entering this configuration information, and then click Finish.
    • Click Next after you have completed entering this configuration information, and then click Finish.
    • Quit/Close Outlook

  5. Importing emails from .pst file

    Open the export wizard by clicking File -> Open & Export -> Import/Export -> Import from another program of file -> Select "Outlook data file (.pst) and browse the .pst file that you created in step 3.

     

  6. Import email signature.

    Create a new message in Outlook -> Select "Signature" and paste the signature stored in step 2 to "Edit Signature" box.
